Canvas Holidays Blog – the Origins

At Canvas Holidays, we’re experts in self-drive European camping holidays. While our website has loads of information about booking camping holidays in Europe and all the fantastic campsites we offer, we wanted to be able to offfer a bit more. There’s just so much more to discover. Europe is jam-packed with so many interesting places and beautiful locations, it got us to thinking about putting it all together in a blog.

Then we started chatting about the kinds of things we should include – should it be history, culture and sightseeing based, or should we keep it more outdoorsy and go for activities and events? Finally we realised that actually we’re interested in all that and more. We have a wealth of experience that we’d love to share – between us we’ve worked in the travel industry for nearly 100 years (that little statistic actually freaked us out a bit because there are not that many of us!) We’ve lived, worked, studied and holidayed in Europe and whilst we’re quite a nice, unassuming bunch, we know our stuff.

So here is our blog about Europe and camping holidays, where we get to tell you about all the things we love. Where to go, what to do and see plus the food, the culture, the lifestyle, the heritage and the languages. We’ve called it Postcards from Europe because that’s what it feels like – sharing the stuff you’d write home about.

We love the quirky and the funny stuff too and we’ll be looking out for anything that we can pass on to cheer up a Monday morning and may even be tempted to share a few of our funny travel industry experiences.

So please read, enjoy and let us know what you think, we’d love to hear from you.

  1. I love the blog! It’s really interesting to hear about what got you hooked on travelling. Can’t wait for the next installment.

    • Thanks Helen! We are currently working on some other members of Canvas Life to get them to give their stories so come back and check us out again soon.

    • I’m afraid I’m not sure that it’s entirely appropriate to go into the full details for a family blog! But lets just say that an amorous pair of hedgehogs decided to take temporary refuge in the bag one night!
