We love campsites!
Call us biased but we really do love camping.
There’s something so relaxing about staying outdoors, enjoying every meal al fresco, and getting to enjoy the simple nature of a holiday on a campsite. The fact that a lot of campsites in Europe have amazing facilities means that there’s bound to be something to keep every member of the family happy. Have you seen some of the amazing waterslides?!
We’re not alone in our love of camping and so far this year, we’ve had lots of great feedback and constructive criticism which we really do appreciate! So here, we’re taking a look at which campsites you lovely holiday makers have rated the best so far this season. All quotes are taken from Bazaarvoice from reviews left during June 2015.
#10 Les Alicourts Resort
At number 10 is the beautiful Les Alicourts Resort in the Loire Valley.
“I thought the resort was amazing; it was spacious, clean, friendly and had a brilliant range of facilities for all ages to enjoy.”
#9 Camping la Palombière
A fab base for exploring the Dordogne – hire a canoe, pack a picnic and take to the river for hours of relaxation and sightseeing.
“All aspects of the site were excellent. The accommodation was modern, clean and very spacious. The site facilities for children were far beyond what we expected and the kids had great fun. The site restaurant / bar served excellent food and had an amazing selection of beers. The site representatives, Gemma and Jamie, were friendly and very helpful.”
#8 Camping Fabulous
If you fancy exploring Rome but don’t fancy paying city prices look no further than Camping Fabulous!
“Camping fabulous is a lovely campsite, the swimming pool area is excellent, large adult swimming pool and the children’s pool area was huge. Pool closed at 7pm, which was a little early, when you wanted to go for a swim after a day sightseeing in Rome. The restaurant area was very nice and served very good food.”
#7 Camping la Bien Assise
A short hop across the Channel takes you to the beautiful Picardy countryside! A popular site for a short break or a stopover but equally enjoyable for longer too!
“the campsite is ideal for a short break, plenty to do in the local area if you want to explore & walk”
#6 Camping Acapulco
Nestled in the countryside of the beautiful Vendée, a fab spot for a lively family holiday!
“The site was spotlessly clean and seemed very well ran. The shop was fairly typical of a campsite shop, pretty basic and a little expensive, but there is a supermarket within easy walking distance. The pools where fantastic and pleasantly warm.”
#5 Yelloh! Village les Tournels
Soak up the chic air of St Tropez from this glamorous campsite!
“I loved the nearby vineyards and the walk to the beach was lovely and the sea was lovely and clear to go snorkelling. Ramatuelle was lovely to visit such a lovely historical town and Gassin. The restaurant at the campsite was magical with all the lovely lights lit up at night and sitting amongst the olive trees! The onsite bakery was fab and amazing croissants!!”
#4 Cambrils Park
A firm favourite among lots of Canvas holiday-makers to the sun soaked Costa Dorada.
“The Resort is very clean, very safe and full of activities for the family. Top class service throughout, having our shopping carted back to our Bungalow from the Supermarket was a nice touch! The pools and surroundings were absolutely wonderful. The snack bars offered nice food, lovely pizza! If you want to splash out, the Fish restaurant is excellent.”
#3 Domaine des Ormes
A base for fun! With FamilyExtra, beautiful countryside and lots going on, you may need a holiday afterwards!
“It’s got pretty much everything you could want, is laid out perfectly and for a big site it feels as if nothing is too far away. The staff are friendly, the place is well presented and the grounds are obviously cared for very well.”
#2 Camping la Croix du Vieux Pont
You’ve probably heard about Berny. It’s one of the favourites! We love hearing the stories about families who have holidayed there as kids and are now returning with their kids.
“Amenities on site are excellent. Well stocked and priced shop, lovely bakery, bike hire should you want it and the pools looked awesome though smaller than in the pics somehow. Everyone stuck to the non existent campsite rules – mostly courtesy and politeness reigned and it was lovely to see kids being able to have some independence safely and happily.”
And the mid-season number one spot goes to…
#1 Camping Duinrell
The free onsite theme park, huge waterpark and close proximity to Amsterdam makes this site pretty special!
“The kids loved the theme park and the pool complex. It was great to return from a day out and let the children loose in the park for an hour or so. Tikibad gets a bit expensive if you go a lot with a big family. The area is beautiful and Wassenaar is a lovely town. We took bikes and cycled everywhere. Holland is brilliant for cycling: a superb cycle path network and very flat!”
