Best holiday ever! A review of Marina di Venezia

Oliver & Ella, our Kids Ambassadors, went on holiday to Camping Marina di Venezia this summer. We just love this review of their holiday. Sounds like they had great fun!

We have just arrived back from our BEST HOLIDAY EVER! And we really, really did not want to come home!

We stayed at Camping Marina di Venezia in Italy, which is a very large campsite and there was just so much to do on site that no two days were the same.

We stayed in a lovely two bedroom Moda, which has two bedrooms (as the name suggests), a kitchen, dining area and a lovely decking area with loungers and barbecue.

First thing we did when we arrived was to hire bikes for our stay, which is the best way to explore the large site and the surrounding area.

The campsite boasts 9 different swimming pools which include waterslides, an activity pool, jacuzzis, and wave pool and although the pool closes between 1pm and 3pm for ‘siesta’ time the lovely beach that the campsite is situated on is always open. We loved visiting the beach with its lovely soft sand and warm sea. There are lots of activities available to try and we had a go at the pedolos, banana boat, volleyball and of course sand castle making.

The site has a huge daily and evening activity programme available, and you can do as much or as little as you like but booking is needed for the more popular activities. Oliver signed up to the football academy which was a very well run football school for two hours each day which ended with a world cup tournament on the last day – it was a very competitive and tense final tournament and great fun for players and spectators alike.

Other activities onsite which we tried and enjoyed were the 3D cinema, the mini rides, climbing wall, trampolines, horse-riding, mini golf and scuba diving (all have a small charge).

In the evenings we mainly enjoyed having barbecues at our Moda and playing out with all the new friends we made on site. We did try the mini disco, which is on every night and also boogied at the weekly beach disco. During our stay we were lucky enough to watch the fireworks, which were awesome and also had a go at the ‘moonlight swim’ – where the pools are open from 9.30pm to 11.30pm so you can swim and dive in the dark.

One day we headed off site to try out the water park Aqualandia in Jesolo ….this place is AWESOME and definitely worth a visit!! With so many slides, pools and shows to have a go at and see it was a brilliant family day out with something for all ages whilst not being far from the campsite.

TOP TIP:  If you are planning a day out at the waterpark, check out their website for special offers – we got a 4 for 3 deal saving us 26 euros.

And because we were so close to Venice, just a short bike ride up to the harbour, we had to take a day trip there. We took the Marco Polo boat, which was a 20 minute trip. We even took a ride in a gondola to take in the sights and sounds and learn about some of the history of Venice.

We also have to say that our rep Laura was AMAZING and so helpful. The Canvas cabin is stuffed full of beach toys, games, cards and books so you don’t need to worry about buying any of these items, you can just borrow them.

Note from the grown-ups…

This site is not just for kids! There is so much to do for all the family and we all enjoyed a fun-filled, but also relaxing holiday. We often took part in activities like water aerobics and adult football whilst having time to relax and unwind – the perfect holiday combination! The site is well positioned, and the Canvas Modas are simply beautiful – they are spacious, have everything needed for a self-catering holiday and are situated on a nice quiet part of the campsite. We enjoyed hiring the bikes and being able to explore the site and also the surrounding area of Jesolo. On site, there is a shop, fresh fish stall, greengrocers, 4 very nice restaurants/snack bars on site, and of course the ice cream parlours! You have plenty of options whether you want to eat out or in! We enjoyed a mixture of both, making good use of the barbecue on our pitch –  most evenings the air is filled with the aroma of barbecues! A short bike ride or walk up the road you will find plenty of shops, restaurants and side stalls (which sell Prosecco at around 3 euros a litre). We all had a truly fabulous holiday and would definitely recommend this site to others and would love to visit again.

Ella & Oliver were guests of Canvas Holidays. They stayed at Camping Marina di Venezia near Venice in a Moda with 2 bedrooms. All opinions are their own!
