Memories of Bois de Valmarie

We absolutely love hearing your stories and memories of your holidays and adventures with Canvas Holidays over the years. Thank you very much for sharing them!

One story that really touched our heart was from a lovely gentleman named Mr Orton. He wrote to us last year before he took his 47th holiday with us. He wrote with a lovely story about the holidays himself and his wife took over the years and how Camping le Bois de Valmarie in the Languedoc-Roussillon holds a very special place in his heart.

Couriers Kathy & Jerry with Ray & Jeanne at Valmarie in Sept 2014

“Jeanne and I started holidaying with Canvas in 1985 at Bretignolles on the west coast through an old friend’s recommendation, followed the next year to the Royan.

More holidays on the west coast then we ventured down to the south coast (St Tropez and Grau du Roi) where we met a courier whose mother taught Jeanne French at night school in Doncaster.

Further holidays along the south coast got us to Soleil, Portiragne, Vias Plage, Serignan, Cala Gogo and finally Bois de Valmarie where we have been June and September for the past ten years.

Upon reflection our experiences have been wonderful where everyone has been most helpful and kind to us, and the good weather helped.

Unfortunately I shall be coming to Valmarie in June (2015) on my own since my wife passed away on 24 January this year, aged 92!! She insisted that I should continue holidaying with you and to go on and enjoy life (I am 80 in July).

Jeanne had a list of all the venues and number of visits to them but to date I can’t find it, but last September at Valmarie we counted 46.

Hoping I can still carry on this story in the future.

Thank you Canvas.

Ray Orton”
