Life or Selection? That is the question

Now that we’ve introduced to you our Life and Selection ranges, you might be wondering what exactly the differences between the two are. There’s no need to worry, we’ve got the answers for you.

One of the major differences is in the accommodation types available in each range. Our Life campsites have a more European-feel and there are certain elements of the mobile home that our British customers might come to expect that are not necessarily what a French or German tourist might expect. For example we Brits love our tea, whereas Continental Europeans tend to favour coffee – this is why most of our Life accommodation comes equipped with a cafetiere and not a kettle. The differences in the mobile homes are nothing major, just make sure you check each campsite before you book to make sure you know what to expect inside your mobile home or tent.

To give you an idea of who we think would best suit our Life and Selection ranges, here are four very different families heading off on a Canvas camping holiday… which campsite would we pick for them?

Camping pros…

fontaines

Camping Fontaines – an excellent Life campsite

John and his family of four love the outdoors and have been camping for years – you might even call them pros. They’ve been to France quite a few times but they haven’t been to the Languedoc-Roussillon area before. They’re pretty adventurous and don’t plan on spending a lot of the day time using the facilities on site, instead they want to explore the region as best they can during their 7 night stay. We think they’d love Camping Fontaines, one of our Life campsites, it’s located next to the Canet-Saint Nazaire nature reserve ideal for exploring and is just two miles from the beach where they can go paddle boarding or kayaking. They can even go on a hike up the Pyrenean Mountains, which will be sure to tire out the kids. While they might not spend a lot of time in their mobile home during their stay, they can spend their last day relaxing by the pool and making dinner at the barbecue area.

Camping with young children…

sirene

La Sirene – one of our favourite Selection campsites

Diane and George have two young children and want a holiday where they can completely relax and get away from it all. They want their campsite to have as much available on site as possible so they don’t have to worry about keeping the kids entertained. We think they’d love our Selection campsite La Sirène, it has a fantastic pool complex as well as our free children’s entertainment programme FamilyExtra. This means they’ll never have to worry about the kids getting bored. Diane and George can treat themselves to a relaxing massage while the kids whizz down the water slides and splash about in the pool. The site is close to the lively resort of Argelès-sur-Mer where they’ll find a great selection of bars and restaurants – there’s even a train that travels between the two. But since they don’t want to spend money eating out every night, Diane and George have booked into a Select mobile home that has an oven so they  have the option of cooking for themselves.

Camping for couples…

embruns

Camping Embruns – a great Life campsite close to Bordeaux

David and Wendy have enjoyed many Canvas holidays with their family over the years, but now that their children have flown the nest they’re looking for something a little different from their camping experience. We think they’d love Camping Embruns, one of our Life campsites. Ideally located within driving distance of the cultural city of Bordeaux, they can spend their days tasting delicious wine among the vineyards or exploring the city’s beautiful historical monuments. The campsite is also close to the Arachon basin, so is perfect for reconnecting with nature. They’ll be catered for onsite as well with a bar and restaurant and a local golf course nearby. After a long day of exploring they can unwind at the Wellness Centre with a massage and a sauna.

Camping with teens…

03

La Croix du Vieux Pont – one of our most popular Selection campsites

Siobhan and Luke’s children are teenagers now and they’re a bit worried a camping holiday will bore the kids. They won’t need to worry at La Croix du Vieux Pont, one of our most popular Selection campsites. Not only is there plenty to entertain children of all ages, but it is within driving distance of two top theme parks. While Disneyland Paris usually attracts a younger audience, Parc Astérix is packed full of rides that thrill-seeking teens will love. This site is close to Paris, a great city to explore with kids of any age. The onsite facilities at this campsite are top of the range with two lakes ideal for fishing and water sports as well as a fantastic pool complex – with a heated indoor pool for when the weather is a bit off.

As you can see, there’s plenty of exciting destinations and amazing campsites in both our Life and Selection ranges, so there’s a Canvas holiday to suit everyone!
